WEEK 25, 26 & 27!

And, Happy Birthday, Mom!
How far along?
Almost 28 weeks!  A lot of growing and updates since my last blog post at 24 weeks!  I'm officially in my 7
th month and in my third trimester!   My fundal height is at 28cm (~28weeks).

15 weeks and 27 weeks respectively...POP!

Total weight gain/loss:  I've had two appointments since my last post. On 6/27 I was up a total of 10 lbs, and on my last appointment on 7/10, I was up 3 more lbs, for a total of 13lbs!  I think I spoke too soon when I was worried about not gaining enough weight.  12 more weeks of this baby growing and mama gaining! Bring it on.  Grow baby grow!  Right now baby is almost 3lbs!

Maternity clothes?  My pre-pregnancy clothes are becoming difficult to wear, shirts are too short, and pants are a struggle to get on and wear all day.  Even my workout clothes are becoming tighter and shorter.   I prefer maxi dresses still.  Actually, I prefer no clothes right now, to be completely honest.

Stretch marks?  Nope! J

26 weeks
Highlights:
We finally got to do the Pictured Rocks boat tour in Munising, MI!  We've attempted to take the boat tour on 3 other occasions and got turned away due to bad weather. Even this time we got turned away but were able to fit it in another day during our trip to the UP.  We visited a cabin on the Manistique River in Germfask, MI, then headed to Grand Marais, stopped at some sightseeing spots, and stayed at a bed and breakfast.  We visited Munising last and saw got to see the Pictured Rocks from the boat tour, and we also visited horseshoe falls, which was the first waterfall I've ever had to pay admission for.  It was beautiful and worth $6 per person.

26 Weeks: The tree is pregnant too!

I had two baby appointments since my last post, they are becoming more frequent now that the third trimester is here. Baby's heartbeat is sticking to 140bmp.  I'm growing bigger…everything seems normal and on track! J

Had my glucose test done and results are normal…yay! J  And, by the way, I liked the stuff they make you drink!  I've heard of others complaining about the taste…maybe they had a different flavor than I did?  Orange flavor tasted like a Popsicle to me!  I drank it right up!  And, if I had to drink more, I certainly could!

Had an OT appointment for the numbness in my hands.  I was sent home with some daily exercises and knowledge and wrist guards to wear when I sleep.  I decided not to make a follow up appointment because this issue could get better after pregnancy, even though I had the issue pre-pregnancy.

Had 2 PT appointments for my sciatic nerve.  When I woke up one night not being able to walk on my leg, that really was the last straw.  But, since that occurrence, my sciatic nerve pain  has been tolerable. I've been practicing good posture and stretching and received a back pillow and some exercises to do every 2 hours from my PT.  I even was taught how to create a way to lay on my front side with pillows so I don't squish my belly…which really straightens out your back and takes a lot of pressure off of it.

LOW LIGHT: Had poison ivy outbreak (thanks doggies…), it was bound to happen.  It was all over my body…but it wasn't as bad as the first outbreak I had in 2011.   The rashes are healing well, and I struggled through without any steroids.  I have scabs and scars from where I rubbed the rash open with alcohol swabs and poison ivy scrub but they are slowly healing and fading.  I purchased Zanfel which was $60 for a 1oz tube (WOOF!) and then after that tube was gone I purchased a $20 tube of Tecneu.  I have no idea if I could have gotten away with just using Tecneu, but, when I bought Zanfel I was pretty desperate and wasn't about to mess around.  I do know that the scrubs really do help get rid of the oils and they provide relief from itching.

New baby items :

We got the crib put up finally! The nursery is really coming together J

We are so blessed to have amazing friends!  Bill and Teresa, our Cheboygan friends, GAVE us a baby mattress!  And, let us borrow their bassinet and her boppy pillow!  They had their second baby end of January this year, so right now, the baby isn't using any of this stuff.  Worked out perfect for us!  Teresa also mentioned that they have a baby Bjorn carrier they'll let us borrow!
Got an awesome deal on Craigslist for an infant carrier, with 2 car seat bases from this super sweet lady whose girls are all done using it! J It is in GREAT condition and the car seat doesn't expire till 2017! …I didn't even know that car seats had expiration dates on

Still a little more to go on BabyB's blankey I'm crocheting…super close to being done! There are 50 rows and I'm on row 35. I've kinda put the blankey to the side for the time being…I've been making lots of hats for a craft Bazzar I'm participating in on 7/20 with my mom! I've also created a facebook page with some things I've made and have had a couple of orders so far, so I've been working on them instead. Visit my page and LIKE to follow J www.facebook.com/madewithlovebyheather10 .

Movement?  Yup!  WAY more movement, baby is moving practically all day!  At my last appointment, my midwife told me that she doesn't think the baby's head is down in the delivery position yet, my belly became lopsided when she was checking my belly and she pointed out the baby's back.    I love the movement.  It's amazing.  I wish I could see what the baby is doing in there.

Miss anything? Sleeping well.  I wake up a lot due to frequent bathroom visits more often than ever during this pregnancy.  And, I've been super hungry when I wake up.   Will notices me wake up too and one night he said, "Hey, seriously, what can I do to help you sleep better?"  Poor guy…welcome to pregnancy, get yourself prepared for sleepless nights pretty soon…

Sleeping is becoming a chore actually.  At first all I had to do was brush my teeth before bed.  Now, I have to brush my teeth, take a shower, cover myself in calamine lotion, stock up on pillows, sleep on my left side, eat a snack so I don't wake up starving in the middle of the night, wake up and visit the bathroom at least 2 times at night, wear a wrist guard, and sometimes wear a mouth guard.

Food cravings?   The usual. I've been craving sweets like soda or popcicles, ice cream…maybe that's why I'm gaining weight?  lol

Gender:  Most common question the last couple of months: "Are you having a boy or a girl?"   Will: "Yes"  …The baby will be a boy or a girl ;)  I had a couple of people tell me that they just wish they knew what the baby was going to be so they could buy cute clothes for the baby!  Lol, so sweet and thoughtful J  Green works, and so does yellow and orange, and brown and even blue!!  Will says camo works…of course he would!   Or, if you are pretty sure baby is a boy or a girl, go ahead and spoil babyB!  Just make sure to include gift receipts, please!  Or, feel free to wait till BabyB is born and then you and BabyB can go on a shopping date!

Belly button in or out?  Flat still, surprisingly.

Wedding rings on or off?  On!  Yay!
Mood/How are you feeling?: Good for the most part. Starting to get a little uncomfortable.  More difficult to get in and out of bed, and to sit sometimes.  The belly is taking over.  I prefer to stand, until my feet and back hurt that is.  Now that my itching from poison ivy is going away, I'm a lot more relaxed.   I've started to notice Braxton Hicks, they usually happen when I'm at home after work, doing house work, cooking dinner, etc. I think they are triggered by being on my feet, because it happens when I go for a long walk too.  I am still drinking plenty water (I think plenty), I'm not sure how much more I can drink to handle more visits to the bathroom.

Looking forward to: my mom is visiting me next weekend and we are going to participate in a local craft Bazzar! J  I'm also looking forward to browsing the MOM 2 MOM sale at the same time and location as the Bazzar.

Fitness Report:  staying active, noticing Braxton hicks when I'm on my feet for a long time.  It doesn't bother me to have the tightening, but, it just worries me, I don't know what is "normal" I guess.

What I've learned: at my last two baby appointments (let me remind you that they are a combo of a check up and then a group of other pregnant women and their significant others with our midwife) we had a lactation consultant come in and answer questions and show us the right way to breastfeed. Surprisingly, she told us that if you are doing it the right way, breastfeeding shouldn't be painful.  We also had a recap on birth control methods…I actually learned some things!  Ever hear of a copper IUD that doesn't have any hormones but is a birth control option.  Hmmmm…

Happy Independence Day!

Will and I made it to the Capri Drive in this summer finally!
